I know in the past I have mentioned that I have the best parents ever, but this year they really upped their game!

EARLY BIRTHDAY POST!:

They got me the Singer 160, something I have been pining over for the past year since the design was released. Yes I’m the kind of person to subscribe to sewing machine websites. I spent a couple of weeks desperately trying to find a way to afford it on my own, but there was no way in hell as a student (and Canadian) I had the cash together to buy it before it went out of stock as a limited edition model and get to Vancouver.

BUT! As a whiny uni student I mentioned it to my American stepfather and gushed over it so much that he, in cahoots with my mother, ended up buying it secretly in the US and then held it in Seattle for a year until my birthday this weekend.

I have the most thoughtful and forward thinking parents Eh-EH-EHH-VUR!

Yes I get emotional over sewing machines.

But let me make it clear that this baby PUUUURRRRRRRRRS when you work her.

Angels sing hymns of salvation every time I turn her on, and tiny cherubs erupt from every stitch to play the sweetest chords of perfection to console my tired mind. SATIN SMOOTHS IN SUBMISSION TO A MACHINE OF SUCH HEAVENLY BEAUTY!

I just have a lot of birthday feels okay.

Little boy’s birthday cake I did at work a while ago actually. I walked into the bakery for my shift after class to find half the cake made and the table it was on covered in icing. Apparently the original designs started with the idea of an overhead view of a street after Superman had saved the day (with the boy’s Super-man figure being stuck in the centre of the cake for the party).

So basically I cleaned it up and and made the street look like a….street.
